Overview

The aim of the course is to prepare you for industry, teaching you the basic skills needed to work in a hairdressing salon performing cutting and styling services.

  • Consultation
  • Blow drying & dressing hair
  • Plaiting & twisting
  • Working in the hair industry
  • Cutting women’s hair

Course runs over 3 days between 9-6pm, (14 hours per week).

Entry requirements

You must have achieved 3 GCSE'S  9-3 (A-D) including English.

Alternatively you will do an initial assessment in English and will be required to achieve Level 1.

You will be assessed through 2 assignments, 5 exams and completed portfolio of practical
assessments.

You can progress onto the Level 2 Certificate in Colouring.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

Level 2 Entitlement: If you are aged 19 - 23 on the start date of the course and this is your first full Level 2 qualification, the course is free if you are studying for an entry or Level 1 qualification (except Basic Skills) where a step from Basic Skills is needed in order to progress to a first full Level 2 course or this is a first full Level 2 qualification.

Please note any fee shown excludes any additional costs to learners for any necessary equipment, materials, uniforms or any visit/residential that learners are required to participate in.

You only need to apply once for A Level programmes. After receiving your application form you will be invited to attend an informal interview where you will have a chance to discuss which specific A Level subjects you would like to enrol on.
