Overview

This course is designed for experienced hair stylists / experienced barbers wishing to develop their skills in specialist areas.

Whilst on the programme it is desirable that you are working in a salon.

You will attend College one day a week for 6 hours.

  • Provide Client Consultation Services
  • Creatively Cut Hair Using a Combination of Barbering Techniques
  • Design and Create a Range of Facial Hair Shapes
  • Provide Shaving Services
  • Salon Reception Duties
  • Perming Men's Hair
  • Develop and Enhance your Creative Hairdressing Skills
  • Contribute to the Planning, Implementation and Evaluation of Promotional Activities.

You will study 1 day per week and this possibly may include a night class.

Specific days will be advised at your interview.

Entry requirements

It is advised that you are already employed within a suitable hairdressing salon / barbers and must hold an NVQ/VRQ Level 2 Barbering qualification.

You must also have a successful interview with the hairdressing/barbering team and a good reference.

You can progress into employment or further study.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

However, you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. You can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan from Student Finance England (SFE) to fund all or part of the fee. For information on Advanced Learning Loans go to www.gov.uk/advanced-learning-loans/
Please note any fee shown excludes any additional costs to learners for any necessary equipment, materials, uniforms or any visit/residential that learners are required to participate in.

You only need to apply once for A Level programmes. After receiving your application form you will be invited to attend an informal interview where you will have a chance to discuss which specific A Level subjects you would like to enrol on.
