OVERVIEW

This course is for those that have a Level 1 Childcare or Health & Social Care qualification but do not have the English and maths requirements to progress to a higher level qualification. It is aimed at those who are hoping to work in either sector.

You will be given a unique opportunity to gain two introductory certificates in childcare, the Level 2 Award in Child Development and Care and Health and Social Care and the Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care.

You will develop your English and maths and gain qualifications that will support progression into work, apprenticeship or a higher level of study.

  • Development and Well-Being 0-5 years Assessment Task
  • Child Care and Development 0-5 years

September – June, 3 to 4 days a week.

70 hours work experience.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You must have achieved an appropriate Level 1 vocational qualification and /or GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or above.

If you have a grade 3 (D) or below in GCSE English and/or maths you will be required to continue studying these subjects as part of your study programme.

To achieve the CACHE Level 2 Award in Child Development and Care you will complete assignment tasks and a multiple choice question paper, this is a synoptic external assessment set and marked by CACHE covering 100% of the qualifications content.

To achieve the CACHE Level 2 Certificate Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care you will complete practical and written assessment tasks.

The English and maths will be assessed via the completion of an externally marked exam.

You can progress onto Level 2 Childcare or Health and Social Care, an intermediate apprenticeship in health & social care or the children's and young peoples workforce.

The College Careers Service is available to all our students. We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into further education.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home- fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.
