Required 1 day per week for two year (30 weeks per academic year).


You must have achieved a Pearson Higher National Certificate in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) prior to commencing this progression qualification.

Teaching methods include lectures and tutorials and some practical sessions to enhance the theory.

You will study 16 units covering the needs of local and national industries and business.

You are required to complement your College based learning with self study.

Assessment is by a range of integrated assignments, case studies, projects and tests which are planned throughout the year.

Progression to the BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering at Middlesbrough College with the OU requires a Merit overall from the HND.

Fees payable directly to Middlesbrough College, £2,250 per year.
