OVERVIEW

This top-up degree course develops your knowledge and understanding of computer games design. It is ideal if you want to top up your existing foundation degree or HND to Level 6 and gain graduate employment in the sector.

The purpose of this course is to help you explore games design and related developments in this growing industry. This programme is completed through facilitated, hands-on sessions alongside lectures and real-world practices using specialised industry-standard software and by completing a games design portfolio and final year project.

Specifically, you will study 3D sculpting, game development, virtual reality and computer game industry practice. Throughout the programme you will also be encouraged to develop your employability skills.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A related games design qualification at Level 5 (a foundation degree or equivalent).

Teaching methods will include a combination of lectures and practical sessions, where you will learn the games design principles and apply them in purpose-built labs.

Formative feedback will help you to master the knowledge and skills to ensure you have a deeper understanding of the subject as you progress through the programme.

You will be assessed through report writing, practical work, examinations, case studies, presentations, research and project work.

Fees payable directly to Middlesbrough College, £8,500 per year.
