OVERVIEW

This programme is designed to help you explore computing and related developments in this fast moving subject. This journey is completed through facilitated, hands-on sessions alongside lectures and real-world practices using specialised industry-standard tools, and by completing an industry-related project. Specifically, you will investigate networking and security, systems design and development, programming, web services, database development, project management, problem solving and professional skills.

Throughout the programme you will also be encouraged to develop your employability skills.

Successful completion of this programme provides entry to the BSc (Hons) Computing (Top-up) to gain a full honours degree award.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You must have achieved 48 UCAS tariff points from an appropriate Level 3 qualification (NVQ 3, BTEC Award or A Level).

You are also required to have GCSE passes at grade 4 (C) or equivalent in English and maths.

Teaching methods will include a combination of lectures and practical sessions for each subject. Lectures concentrate on teaching the principles while practical sessions allow you to put these principles into practice in purpose-built labs.

Throughout your practical sessions you will receive feedback on your work and progress. You will also spend several weeks on a small-scale project to enable you to build a deeper understanding of the subject as you work. The feedback you receive will help you to get the most out of your learning.

You will be assessed through report writing, practical work, examinations, case studies, presentations, research and project work.

Fees payable directly to Middlesbrough College, £6,150 per year.
