OVERVIEW

This course is for you if you would like to work as a technician or technician engineer in instrumentation and control engineering design, manufacture, maintenance, testing or fault finding, or the communications industry. The course content reflects the needs of local industry and combines theory and practical work with a focus on industrial applications.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You must have achieved an appropriate technician or craft qualification at Level 3 Diploma or similar, and have a good standard of literacy and numeracy skills.

The most common eligible qualifications include A Levels, BTEC Extended Diplomas/National Diplomas and Access to HE Diplomas.

You must also pass a diagnostic maths test.

Non-standard applicants for both full and part time modes of study will be considered based on individual merit and industrial experience relevant to the programme.

Teaching methods include practical sessions, lectures and tutorials.

You will study 8 units covering the needs of local and national industries and business.

You are required to complement your College based learning with self study.

Assessment is by a range of integrated assignments, case studies, projects and tests which are planned throughout the year.

Fees payable directly to Middlesbrough College, £2,250 per year.
