OVERVIEW

The CertEd is a professional teacher education programme that will qualify you to teach in the post-compulsory education and training sector e.g. further education colleges, adult and community settings and training providers.

The course is designed to meet the ETF Professional Standards and will equip you with a toolkit to teach adults and young people. The qualification is open to those who hold a Level 3 qualification in their intended subject specialism.

September- May, one afternoon or one evening per week.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You must have achieved a Level 3 qualification in your intended subject specialism.

You are also required to have GCSE grade 4 (C) or above or equivalent in English.

You must also complete an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS check) from the last three years, from the point of enrolment.

You must also have a teaching practice placement that offers you a minimum of 100 hours over the course of one year.

Teaching methods will include interactive teaching, lecturers, seminars, workshops, tutorials, group activities, reflective practice, e-learning sessions and self-directed learning.

You will be assessed through presentations, observation of teaching practice and a reflective journal.

Fees payable direct to Middlesbrough College, £1,975 per year.
