This is a 2 year course studied September – June.

You should have achieved at least five GCSEs at grade 4/5, with English Language at grade 5.

As well as the entry requirements above you will also need to meet the specific requirements for the A Level courses you choose.

Each unit is assessed by completion of assignments set over the course of the year.

This qualification will provide you with a range of transferable skills so that you can progress onto a range of our HE courses.

Past students have progressed onto our foundation degree in Social and Public Sector Studies and then completed the BA (Hons) Social and Public Sector Development degree. After completing the degree you will be well equipped to pursue a career in the Civil Service, Police force, public service, housing advice, management, community worker, probation officer and youth work.

Past students have progressed onto our Cert. Ed: Education and Training qualification which is a professional teacher education programme that will qualify you to teach in the post-compulsory education and training sector. After completing this course students have progressed onto our BA (Hons) Education course.

After successfully completing the course, you can progress into higher education and this course will be useful to anyone looking to progress into careers such as the police, probation service or the court service.

The course will be of interest to anyone who wishes to gain an insight into the legal system in this country and who prefers an assignment rather than an exam based method of assessment.

The College Careers Service is available to all our students. We can help you when deciding which course or option you wish to take. During your course we ensure you develop employability skills and gain relevant experience. We provide information, advice and support when completing your course and progressing to work or going into higher education. When applying for university we can provide support with the UCAS application and Student Finance.

Our MC Click scheme provides full time students (ages 16-19) on a Level 1, 2 or 3 study programmes with a free loan laptop to assist with their studies. Laptops can be collected at enrolment. Click here for more information about MC Click.

Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home-fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be required to pay fees depending on your residency status, educational background and personal circumstances.

All full time students will be offered a number of options to secure at least 10 days of meaningful work experience during the year. This is an important aspect of the course and will help to develop your skills to get a job, progress to a higher level qualification at Middlesbrough College or potentially gain a place at university.
