What is the Kickstart Scheme?

It is a brand new 6-month placement for people aged 16 – 24, who are currently in receipt of Universal Credit and are at risk of long-term unemployment.

 

How long with the Kickstart Scheme last?

Each placement lasts 6 months, with the Kickstart Scheme ending in December 2021.

Middlesbrough College has a number of Kickstart Placements available and these are detailed below. To apply, please contact your Jobcentre Plus Work Coach Advisor or register using the form below and we will refer your interest directly to the Jobcentre in Middlesbrough. They will then contact you directly.

Middlesbrough College currently has 14 placements available:
 
  • 2 x Attendance Support
  • 3 x Administration Support
  • 1 x Administration Support
  • 1 x Student Experience Officer - Digital Support
  • 2 x IT User Support
  • 1 x IT Technical Admin Support
  • 1 x Administration Support
  • 1 x Administration Support (Events)
  • 1 x Administration Support
  • 1 x Attendance Officer (STPS)

All Placements are 25 hours per week and run for six months.  A lunch bag and travel allowance of £10 per week will be provided.

The College will provide CV support, employability training, in-house on the job training to support the role and will organise a Disclosure Barring Service check to be carried out. 

We will provide any required PPE and a Middlesbrough College T Shirt.  There is free access to the College Gym before and after the working day or during lunch breaks.

The Kickstart Scheme is also a great opportunity for businesses to discover new talent, and train up young people to develop skills that can be used to support their organisation. 

Funding is available for 100% of the age-relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week.  As well as wage funding, the Kickstart Scheme will also make National Insurance and employer minimum automatic pension contributions.
