Collab Group, which represents over 35 colleges and college groups, has secured funding from the Government’s Flexible Learning Fund to develop a Digital Engineers Academy, an innovative programme which aims to revolutionise learning in the construction industry.
Middlesbrough College are leading on the project along with fellow Collab Group members including Derby College, Bridgwater College and Capital City Training Group. Each college will be working together to produce engaging content that will be delivered in an online environment with interactive materials that allow students to learn in a more flexible way.
The project aims to improve learner’s career prospects in digital engineering and gain the right skills employers currently need out in industry. The newly developed learning platform will be a huge step for the industry and will plays a significant role in shaping the future skills required for long-term economic growth. Digital skills will be brought to the forefront to a wide range of related industries and will help upskill the next generation of digital engineers.
Steve Bannister, Business Development Director at Collab Group, said: “Training the next generation of digital engineers will be crucial to ensure the success of key infrastructure projects across the UK, and we look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead.”
The Academy has already received endorsements from organisations including East Midlands Rail, One Awards, NSAR, NOCN, Cam Nuttall, West England LEP, Tarmac, East Midland LEP and Laing O-Rourke
