Meet the Marketing Team

Studying Business at Middlesbrough College can lead to a wide range of career opportunities ranging from marketing and sales, to finance and human resources.

So with that said, we introduce you to the Marketing Team at the College, see where they started and find out more about their roles –

Andrea – Director of Marketing, Communications and PR

With a CRM Diploma in Marketing along with 17 years’ experience in working in the Education sector in Marketing roles, Andrea is responsible for the Marketing, Admissions and Schools Liaison Teams in the College.  She is responsible for ensuring the College maintains a positive profile in the region, achieves its student recruitment targets, and that her teams provide a welcoming and high quality service to students and potential students from course enquiry stage right through to enrolment.  Andrea is also a staff Governor attending all governing body and corporate service meetings.

A typical day for Andrea might involve proof reading and signing off of marketing materials, budgeting for marketing campaigns, attending meetings with cross College managers, analysing data and reports, carrying out a range of project actions.

Sarah - Marketing Team Leader
Sarah has over 9 years’ experience in Marketing and is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the college’s Marketing team. She oversees strategy and marketing campaigns and works with the team to develop new creative and content ideas to promote the college brand. Sarah is also responsible for the marketing of the college’s apprenticeship and training arm- Northern Skills Group. 

A typical day would include checking the team’s project list and planning the work for that day, meeting with external partners to plan business events and awards, speaking with suppliers such as digital marketing agencies to coordinate campaigns and generally making sure the marketing strategy and plan is actioned within the team.

Hannah - Marketing Officer
Hannah is a recent graduate of Durham University and studied Marketing. Hannah’s role is to support the marketing team by creating, developing and improving content on the College website, social media and key publications and prospectuses. Hannah supports the marketing team by carrying out marketing communications to attract new students, engage with new and existing employers and to develop and strengthen positive public relations and brand awareness with the local and regional communities.

Hannah develops and delivers marketing campaigns, activities, materials and events for the College including digital, social, print, outdoor and radio. This involves creative copywriting for marketing materials such as course guides, newsletters, e-marketing, website, adverts, testimonials, leaflets, digital, social media and other publications.  

Bryony - Marketing Assistant

Bryony completed her degree at Huddersfield University and has over 4 years' experience in Marketing. Bryony's role focuses around managing and adapting the websites for the College and its apprenticeship and training arm, Northern Skills Group. As well as daily creative copywriting for the sites, she also supports with social media, blogs and photography for everything from events to student testimonials. 
A day in the office usually involves creative copywriting and development on both websites, gathering content and testimonials, taking photos, editing in Adobe and liaising with external web developers.

Harriet – Videography Intern
Harriet is a videographer and photographer, responsible for creating promotional resources including videos, social media animations and press and event photography. Her main focus is on producing video content, which can range from short clips for social media to adverts played in cinemas. Harriet also works with the Graphic Design team to create marketing materials such as flyers and posters.

A typical day would consist of filming and editing footage, taking photographs for events and testimonials, liaising with colleagues to come up with new ideas for content and scheduling in shoots.

Lauren – Social Media Intern at Middlesbrough College
Lauren is a recent Broadcast Media Production graduate from Teesside University and is responsible for all things social media. She creates content for the college’s social media sites, comes up with new ways to increase engagement and keeps on top of all the stats and figures surrounding social media.

A typical day includes, researching current social media trends, updating content plans, attending events and going to classrooms for content and discussing new content ideas with colleagues
