Dr Andrew Allen
Dr Andrew Allen is a lecturer in Education and Business at the University Centre Middlesbrough and holds positions at The University of Birmingham (Institute for Local Government) and Northumbria University (Newcastle Business School). He is a community educationalist who has served on several school leadership teams for almost 20 years. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and an active member of the British Education Leadership, Management and Administration Society (BELMAS). Andrew has published widely and is a Peer Reviewer for the Management in Education Journal and the Journal of Education Policy. Andrew has held a range of governance roles including a Ministerial appointment to the board of the Learning and Skills Council (Cambridge and Peterborough) and has supported school and college governors over the course of his career. Andrew’s research areas focus on governance, leadership, democracy, co-operatives, education policy and social justice.
