My College Newsletter - Issue 7

With courses at every level and covering every sector, we hope that this newsletter gives you a flavour as to the course and career options open to you in a range of sectors as well as an insight into how we prepare our students for their next steps, whether that be an apprenticeship, employment, university or self employment.

The world of education is changing at a quicker pace than ever before, with reforms being felt all the way through our education system. In this edition we hope to explain these reforms as simply as possible as well as giving you an insight into how we are responding to the changes impacting on school leavers.

Last Summer, the Department for Education launched a new suite of performance measures for the College sector, based on measuring the ‘progress made’ from each student’s starting point and the satisfaction levels of both students and employers.

Whilst the Government is continuing to drive up expectations of performance right across the education landscape, we are pleased to find ourselves at the top of these performance tables, when compared to all the General Further Education Colleges across the Tees Valley.

As proud as we are to be excelling in academic achievements, college life isn’t just all about study, and we hope to give you a flavour of the trips, visit, sporting opportunities and community work that our students take part in each year.

We pride ourselves on developing the ‘whole person’ and providing our students with skills and experiences which will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives.

With over 300 full-time courses, over 100 types of apprenticeships plus our adult provision on offer, making a choice can be difficult at any age. For advice on careers and courses available, contact our Careers & Course  Information Team on 01642 333 333.
