Aimhigher at Middlesbrough College supports a diverse group of Gifted and Talented learners (16-19) and we have a well established programme of support and activities available for more able learners backed up by excellent classroom delivery, tutorial support and a personalised learning and planning approach.

  • Are you likely to achieve A’s in your GCSE’s
If Yes, you should be on the College Gifted list!

Check out if you should be on the Talented list!
  • Are you on the school Talented list
  • Do you do a sport at Country, Regional or National Level OR do you complete in Sports Competitions (ie Karate)
  • Do you participate in Theatre performances or have you won competitions for your art/talent
  • Do you have a high level of skill playing a musical instrument
  • Are you in a band or perform to others
If Yes, you should be on the College Talented list!

If you are not sure whether you are on the Gifted and Talented list at school then ask your tutor. It is important that you know as there are activities that you can access as a gifted or talented student. For example, Middlesbrough College and other education providers offer masterclasses for gifted and/or talented students which can help you decide what you would like to do in the future.

If you have done well in your GCSE’s or were on the Gifted list at school then make sure you let Aimhigher know when you get to college.

Why is it important to be on the Gifted and Talentede lists?
Aimhigher at Middlesbrough College works with students in college who were on the Gifted list at school or if they achieved grade A, A* in their GCSE grades. Activities that the college organise include summer schools at Oxford and/or Cambridge, support for applications to medical school just as a few examples.

Aimhigher at Middlesbrough College has some limited funding to support our Talented learners who excel in the Sports, Arts and many other areas. We currently support World, European and National sporting champions as well as Creative Writers, Poets, Dancers, Musicians. Additionally there are many more diverse types of talents that are also recognised and celebrated.
