MC Students Crazy Golf Course Opens At Newham Grange Farm
20 July 2012

MC Construction studentsA new feature at Newham Grange Leisure Farm was formally opened by Councillor Jan Brunton on Thursday, July 5th 2012.

The project was designed and managed by students on the BTEC Level 2 Construction programme and built by students from Brickwork, Joinery and Painting & Decorating.

BTEC programme leader Alan Wilson said: “This has been a wonderful opportunity for our students to be involved in some real and worthwhile work.

“The students discussed the design of the golf course with the farm manager and local councillors, worked out what materials were required and then constructed the nine holes.

“The theme was agriculture, so wooden animals and hay bales feature highly.

“All students involved with the project have thoroughly enjoyed the practical experience, knowing that visitors will be able to have some extra fun when they come to the farm.”

Councillor Brenda Thompson, Middlesbrough Council’s Executive Member for Public Health and Sport said:

“Newham Grange is already one of our most popular attractions and the addition of crazy golf only adds to the entertainment on offer.

“The students from Middlesbrough College have done themselves proud, and I’m sure the new course will provide fun for young and old alike for a long time to come.”

The farm is open daily 9.30am to 5.30pm, last ticket 4.30pm - entrance charges apply.
