A Level Results

Middlesbrough College is celebrating the examination results achieved by nearly 700 A-Level and Diploma students.

On A-Level courses a record pass rate of 99.2% was achieved by 16-18 year old A-level students.

  • A 100% pass rate was achieved in a record 15 different subjects at A2 Level.
  • A 100% pass rate was achieved in a 6 different subjects at AS Level.
  • 6 subjects achieved a 100% pass rate at both A2 and AS level: English Language, Maths, History, Fine Art, Photography and Film Studies.
  • The A2 level pass rate has improved by nearly 7% compared to last year.
  • The AS level pass rate has improved by more than 10% compared to last year.
  • The Average Points score for A level students is 545 points: a 55 point improvement on the previous year.

More than 100 students pursuing 'vocational A level' National Diploma courses have achieved Triple Distinctions.

  • Triple Distinctions are equivalent to achieving three A grades at A-Level and many of these vocational students will now progress to higher education.
  • The pass rate on National Diploma courses was 92%.

Speaking about the results, Principal Mike Hopkins said:

"Today we are celebrating the achievements of all of our Level Three students including A-Level students. These are excellent results achieved by very hard working students, supported and guided by dedicated and experienced teaching and support staff in an inspiring and exciting environment where everyone is committed to helping students fulfill their potential."

"Today's results also demonstrate that our commitment to continuous improvement is paying dividends. The improvement in results over the past few years has been impressive but we will not rest: we will continue to strive to improve so that we can give our students the opportunity to fulfill their aspirations."
