Students To Perform At Prague Fringe Festival
Monday, February 22, 2010

BA (Hons) Creating Theatre students from Teesside University at Middlesbrough College are celebrating the news that they have been selected to perform at this year’s prestigious Prague Fringe Festival. The Prague Fringe has rapidly established a huge reputation among international performers and audiences alike for its versatility and innovation. Informal and compact, the Festival attracts acts from Australia, Canada, Scotland, Norway and Israel and now - Teesside! The students will perform over the nine days of the festival, in a theatre tucked away among the winding cobbled streets, in the shadow of the city’s huge castle and only minutes away from Prague’s main tourist sights.
The premier performance of ‘Nathan the Wise’ will take place at Newcastle Theatre Royal Learning Studio Theatre on Saturday May 1st at 7.00pm before transferring to Nosticovo Divadlo, Prague from Tuesday June 1st to Saturday June 5th at 15.30 (16.20) as part of the Prague Fringe Festival 2010.
‘Once upon a time there was a Muslim, a Christian and a Jew… and they all lived happily ever after.
Why not…miracles can happen!?’
Overhead the bombs fall. Outside the soldiers hunt him and his ‘kind’ down. Deep in the basement of a deserted and derelict house Nathan – a Jew - hides. His only comfort is the tales he loved as a child, the tales of 'Nathan the Wise' - tales he hopes may now save his life!
Nathan the Wise - A Total Theatre adaptation of Gotthold Lessing’s play.
