Apprenticeships with Middlesbrough College

Want to become an Apprentice?

If you’re 16 or over and would prefer to earn while you’re learning then becoming an apprentice could be just the answer!

Apprentices learn on the job, building up knowledge and skills, gaining qualifications and earning money at the same time. They are a big government priority and are set to increase by an additional 3 million opportunities over the next 5 years. They are a great choice for individuals who are eager to earn straight away whilst learning a skill, or who already have an employer who is willing to take them on as an Apprentice. Middlesbrough College has a fantastic range of Apprenticeships to choose from and we will support you in finding an employer relevant to your career aspirations.

Apprentices are employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week and learn both on the job and at College. Your training will be funded and you will be paid for the work you do - the minimum Apprenticeship wage set by the government is £3.30 per hour, however the majority of employers pay significantly more.

The length of an Apprenticeship varies depending on the job you’re doing, your age and how much experience you have. On completion you will be awarded a Certificate of Apprenticeship and may find that your employer can offer you a permanent position at your company.

After successfully completing your Apprenticeship you can choose to progress on to an ‘Advanced Apprenticeship’ or further study, such as a Foundation degree at Middlesbrough College.
