Dr Moira Britton College Governor
Moira was appointed College Governor on 4th October, 2010.
Moira had a 34 year career in NHS management . She held posts across the North East of England and has experience of managing acute hospitals, community health services and mental health and learning disability services. For 15 years she was the Chief Executive of NHS Trusts which provided services to people with a mental health problem or a learning disability.
In 2003 she was awarded an OBE for services to the NHS. In 2006 she was awarded an Honorary Degree by The University of Teesside. Moira is currently a trustee of Families Talking (formerly The Cleveland Family Mediation Service) and is a non-executive director on the board of Erimus Housing Ltd. She works as a relief Registrar in North Yorkshire performing civil wedding and civil partnership ceremonies.
Moira has 20 years experience as a board member and her skills are in strategic management, leadership and the successful implementation of service and organisational change. She is a passionate advocate of the rights of the most vulnerable groups in society and always aims to make a positive difference to the lives of the people she works alongside and the organisations she is involved with. Moira is the current chair of the newly formed Corporate Services Committee, which is an amalgamation of Employment Policy and Finance, Assets & General Purposes Committee.
