Miss Danielle Ripley
Student Governor
I started my time here at Middlesbrough College in September 2009 and finished my course in Music Practice in June 2011. I received triple Distinctions at the end of the two years. Music has always been a massive passion of mine and inspires me in everyday life. For me to be able to study this subject and gain the experience and knowledge that I did from the lecturers is just amazing. In 2010 I was honoured to be awarded with Student of the Year for VPA.
In College I was also part of the Student Council and enjoyed being able to take in what other students wanted from my area and express the concerns and ideas with the Principal / Chief Executive and his senior team. Being a part of this really made me realise how much the College cares for the student’s needs and the learner voice.
It was because of my whole experience and the atmosphere of the College, that I decided to apply for the full time paid NUS Student Sabbatical Officer.
This meant doing two weeks campaigning for student’s votes. When it was announced I had won the elections, I was ecstatic. I really hope in the year ahead I can make student life become more vibrant and make the college a safer place to be. But I would also like to make sure that all of the students appreciate the education and the facilities they have been given. I spent 16 days in Africa for voluntary work and you can’t compare the education over there to here.
My time as a student was very memorable and I would recommend this College to anyone. From the College Leadership Team to the students. Everybody works together as one to make the Students and their education the main priority. I am keen to make the lives of students better in my role which encompasses being NUS President, Student Governor and member of the College Leadership Team.
Hope to see you around College - Danielle.
